Our Volcafe Way farmer support programme engages with thousands of coffee farmers and provides a holistic response to the challenges they face.

This role will be working for Golluecke & Rothfos GmbH, Volcafe’s company in Bremen, Germany.

Key Accountabilities

  • Getting familiar with market terminology and actively following the terminal markets (coffee exchange), developing an under-standing of price movements and prices in general.
  • Controlling trading positions.
  • Researching supply and demand figures.
  • Getting into the specifics of individual coffee origins and translating those dynamics into commercial decisions.
  • Managing customer accounts and selling coffee to specialty customers, upon progress.
  • Facilitating price fixing.
  • Supporting our specialty coffee trading desk with administrative tasks.
  • Daily green coffee quality tasting and cupping to learn and evaluate coffee qualities, and ultimately helping to develop new products.
  • Managing purchasing, sales and third parties’ contracts in a timely and accurate manner.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in international trade, economics, or related field.
  • Fully proficient in written and spoken English essential and good German level would be beneficial. Other languages that enhance the ability to trade coffee are very desirable.
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in trade, sales is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good relationship builder with both customers as well as suppliers.
  • Committed team player who is willing to be flexible and assist with a whole range of tasks to support colleagues and the delivery of a common strategic goal.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to the dynamic trading environment and take a proactive approach to managing tasks and completing priorities.
