We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Proprietary Trader to work in a truly global environment to help leverage our in-house research and physical coffee market information flow. The role provides an exciting development potential for someone eager to demonstrate their skills and experience in the fast-paced soft commodities environment.

Our Volcafe Way farmer support programme engages with thousands of coffee farmers and provides a holistic response to the challenges they face.
Key Accountabilities
- Early responsibility for trading arabica and robusta futures and options markets under the supervision of and in collaboration with the proprietary trading team
- Assist in trading overall positions, executing in accordance with a clearly defined plan
- Reconciliation and management of all trading positions
- Participate in various calls and meetings to understand the underlying physical market both in order to learn from and advise colleagues as regards to their trading strategies
- Develop an understanding of the role of exogenous drivers (macro, technical etc) in influencing the global coffee market
- Assist and advise in the provision of derivatives hedging for our global physical trading operations
Skills and Experience
- Substantial experience in trading physical commodities and/or futures markets and/or some other derivative
- Clear commitment and enthusiasm for a career in the commodity space
- Degree level educated, maths, economics or another numerate or analytical subject
- Proven ability to exercise quick decision making and sound judgement under the pressure of ever-changing circumstances
- This is a role for a team player rather than a standalone trading position, though the intention is to give individual PNL responsibility to the successful applicant within the overall proprietary book
