Role Overview
We have an exciting newly created opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance & Project Engineer to join our team taking responsibility for implementing a preventative maintenance system across our manufacturing facilities, ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of equipment and machinery. The role will also be participating in project development and execution for capital deployed across our 21 facilities in North America. The Maintenance Engineer will report to Regional Operations Management and will work closely with our Corporate Engineering Manager, production teams, management, and suppliers to achieve organizational goals.
Business Overview
Westway Feed Products is North America’s largest manufacturer of liquid supplements for livestock. Additionally, we produce feed mill products, dried molasses and industrial products. The core concept of Westway’s business is to utilize co-products from other industries and convert them into safe, high-quality, cost effective, livestock feed supplements. While Westway’s primary ingredient for many of our products is molasses, we also incorporate other co-products. The concept of utilizing these co-products is the foundation of our sustainability platform. Today, Westway operates 22 production facilities across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Our geographic reach allows for products to be developed according to environmental and production system variations across the country.

We are part of ED&F Man Commodities, a world leading trader of agricultural products including coffee, sugar, molasses and animal feed.
Based in the Woodlands Texas this role will require up to 50% travel across the USA.
Key Accountabilities
- Identify a new computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) for implementation across 21 geographically dispersed facilities across North America. Lead the team to ensure all aspects of the system function for our business model.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and knowledge of safety procedures and regulations. Ensure that those conducting maintenance activities follow safety standards and regulations and identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems and develop and execute maintenance plans to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Analyze data to identify trends, diagnose problems, and develop solutions to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with production teams, management, suppliers and third parties (where relevant) to develop and execute maintenance plans that meet organizational goals and priorities.
- Support the execution of major capital projects across our 21 facilities working with corporate engineering and operations management.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, schematics, and procedures to support maintenance activities.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Skills and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- 3 years of relevant work experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance engineering, preferably from an agricultural, manufacturing, mining, or industrial setting.
- Previous experience with CMMS systems including ideally CMMS implementation.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and knowledge of equipment and machinery.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and P&ID drawings.
- Experience with AutoCad or SolidWorks would be beneficial.
- Previous experience training and troubleshooting, through root cause analysis, basic plant automation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong time management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and make decisions under pressure.
