We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Trader to join our trading desk based in Bremen, Germany. This position offers a broad spectrum of opportunity, scope and commercial activity.

Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:

  • Getting familiar with market terminology and actively following the terminal markets (coffee exchange), developing an understanding of price movements and prices in general
  • Controlling trading positions
  • Researching supply and demand figures
  • Getting into the specifics of individual coffee origins and translating those dynamics into commercial decisions
  • Managing customer accounts and selling coffee to specialty customers, upon progress
  • Facilitating price fixing
  • Supporting our specialty coffee trading desk with administrative tasks
  • Daily green coffee quality tasting and cupping to learn and evaluate coffee qualities, and ultimately helping to develop new products
  • Managing purchasing, sales and third parties’ contracts in a timely and accurate manner

Skills and Expertise

  • Relevant undergraduate University degree (Finance, Economics or accounting) or equivalent experience
  • Experience within the coffee industry or related fields preferred
  • Pro-activeness and strong drive to learn about all aspects of global green coffee trade not only limited to the trading department
  • Must have the ability to adapt to the dynamic trading environment and takes a proactive approach to managing tasks and competing priorities
  • Must be diligent and have a strong attention to detail
  • Computer literacy is desirable and especially with the use of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have good numeracy skills
  • Good communication skills
  • The willingness and ability to build relationships
  • Fully proficient in English. Any other languages are of additional benefit
  • Committed team player who is willing to be flexible and assist with a whole range of tasks to support colleagues
