ED&F Man Commodities appoints Head of Sustainability
ED&F Man Commodities is pleased to announce that Meredith Smith has been appointed Head of Sustainability, a new role for the Group.
Meredith joined ED&F Man in 2016 and has led quality and sustainability for the liquid products business, including creating its industry-leading MAS Program which ties commercial sales with investment in impact projects in the sugarcane supply chain. She recently served a three-year term as the Chair of Bonsucro’s Members Council and as a Director of the Board where she steered the creation of Bonsucro’s ambitious five-year strategy that launched earlier this year. Bonsucro is the leading global sustainability platform and standard for sugarcane, with the purpose to collectively accelerate the sustainable production and uses of sugarcane.
For ED&F Man, she will now lead sustainability for the liquid products division globally and will work with Liesbeth Kamphuis, Sustainability Director for the coffee division Volcafe, and Daniel Polak, sustainability lead for our sugar division, to deliver the Group’s sustainability strategy. She will also oversee the Group’s sustainability vision-setting and environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting, and work closely with Rene Kleinjan who becomes the group’s Head of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality.
Meredith said, “I’m thrilled to take on this new role at ED&F Man Commodities to strengthen our commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainability throughout the organization.”
Trishul Mandana, Volcafe Managing Director and Board member of the Commodity Trade Co with oversight of CSR commented: “Meredith has a strong track record of improving the sustainability of our liquid products business and now steps up to do the same for the Commodities Group, delivering on our own commitments and ambitions for this key area.”
