Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as Trade Analyst based in Tanzania to provide key support of all aspects of Trade functions. The role provides long term development potential for someone eager to demonstrate their skills and experience in a challenging and fast paced soft commodities environment. The role will report to General Manager and will be based in Dar es Salaam City, Tanzania.

Key Accountabilities

The Trade Analyst will work at our trading desk and provide support to the Trader/GM in managing all records and risk aspects related to sourcing and sales, including contract administration, execution, and monitoring of performance of other department that affect our ability to generate results. Responsibilities related to this role are broad and cover a wide variety of support tasks including commercial, accounting, financial, quality, legal and logistics activities. He/she will develop essential business skills and knowledge and establish strong relationships with existing customers and industry contacts.

  • Alongside the Trader/GM, manage the sourcing, sales and sales administration, contract entering, price fixations, daily position management and any other duty assigned by the manager.
  • Closely monitor crop and ensure adequate communication with customers and suppliers to ensure adequate execution of our sales, purchases and overall strategy.
  • Assist on the cost monitoring of our sourcing strategy and to proactively suggest adjustments and creatively suggest ways to improve the way we manage, report, and monitor our sourcing risk.
  • Work closely with the quality department to ensure sourcing and sale strategy is executed properly.
  • Work closely with the logistics department to ensure smooth contract execution and monitoring. Additionally, provide them with adequate resources and information to execute our contracts.
  • Work closely with the sustainability team and data analyst to ensure all reports needed by the GM, the research team and clients are done on time to support overall trade strategy.
  • Prepare and deliver daily, monthly, and ad hoc reports including the position and fixations and other reports as requested by the management.
  • Assist with preparation of coffee trading budgets as well at the monthly follow up as requested.
  • Monitor our inventory and risk matrix items that generate a PnL and report them across the organization.
  • Ensure ultimate integrity of the system we operate and ensure adequate approvals prior performing sensitive adjustments to the system to ensure adequate position management.

Skills and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Mathematics, Economics, or Business Administration or Finance.
  • Ideally 3+ years’ work experience in a commercial, logistics, trading commodities or financial services organization.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Confident and articulate, able to communicate ideas clearly to a diverse audience (written & verbal).
  • Commercially minded and able to identify business improvements and/or opportunities.
  • Career focused and committed.
  • Clear thinker and an effective planner who can organize themselves and others.
  • Sets high personal standards, goal oriented, ambitious and able to maintain performance under pressure.
