Alexandra Iliadis - ED&F Man employee, Miami

Alexandra, Miami

Derivatives, Capital Markets

What does your day-to-day job involve?

I provide financial solutions to the agricultural sector in Latin America. Commodities producers and buyers have financial needs like any other industry, such as financing, reducing the risk of volatility in the prices of commodities or foreign exchange.

The agricultural sector is very face-to-face, so I spend around half my time visiting clients and farms.

I follow and analyse commodities and capital markets to provide better services to our customers, and I increase ED&F Man’s presence in Latin America’s agricultural sector by developing our client base. I also manage a team in Miami.

Why work for ED&F Man?

I enjoy ED&F Man’s entrepreneurial spirit. Managers always have an open ear to new ideas and projects you bring forward – the company is highly results-driven. ED&F Man enjoys a flat hierarchy where performance ranks higher than status or length of service.

Given our presence in more than 60 countries, we offer an international environment with people from very diverse cultural backgrounds.

How would you describe ED&F Man’s culture?

ED&F Man has the energy of a start-up, although it has existed for over 230 years! The culture is young, and open to change and innovation.

What advice would you give to someone who would like to work for ED&F Man?

Take initiative and be hands-on. Challenge the status quo and think outside the box. Be curious and passionate about cultural diversity.
